Australian Web Hosting with Digital Pacific
It was challenging when starting out as a freelance web designer to find reliable recommendations for good Australian web hosting companies. Luckily, the company I decided to go with has been fantastic and I haven’t had to think about it since.
For anyone setting up a small scale personal or business website that will be targeting an Australian audience I would highly recommend Digital Pacific. They currently host about 15 sites for me and I have had no problems with up-time. Speeds are good and the support service is fantastic. The company uses cPanel which is an easy interface to use when managing the back end of the website. They respond quickly to my email enquiries (always within a day, often faster) and provide solid answers and solutions to my technical questions.
Digital Pacific’s shared hosting plans are good value for money, as are their reseller plans. You might find cheaper plans elsewhere (particularly with overseas providers) but from what I have heard these often come with pretty poor support and the fees sometimes increase after the first 12 months. Digital Pacific also offers Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting for those requiring hosting on a larger scale (i.e. for websites experiencing large volumes of traffic) but I am yet to try this.
WordPress hosting with Digital Pacific
I thought I might require pricier managed hosting solutions for my WordPress sites (all truly managed WordPress hosting companies are currently based overseas which isn’t ideal). However, with quality themes and caching set up correctly my WordPress sites have all been running well on the Digital Pacific servers. Digital Pacific offers the ‘one-click’ WordPress installation which makes the initial setup quick and easier, and the cPanel interface is nice and easy to work with.
Other Reliable Australian Web Hosting Providers
Clients sometimes ask me to set up sites on their existing hosting accounts and this has given me some experience with other providers. The standout of these has been VentraIP. As I come across other good providers I will add them to this post.
